Kehila
Richmond Jewish Seniors...
The Kehila Society
of Richmond focuses on strategic planning with partner and
constituent agencies to foster and create satellite and outreach
programs and services within the Richmond Jewish community.
The Canadian census
shows that Richmond is on the road to having the highest
concentration of seniors in the Lower Mainland; Kehila has
worked diligently to address the growing needs of this
population with the vision of empowering seniors to act on their
own behalf and to exercise their rights and advocate for their
own interests. With this philosophy in mind, Kehila, in
partnership with Beth Tikvah Synagogue, and with funding
provided by the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater
Vancouver, the Kehila Richmond Jewish Seniors (KRJS) drop-in
center is now a reality.
We are Seniors,
working with Seniors, for Seniors
KRJS runs from
September to June every Monday, from 10:00am to 2:00pm, except
on holidays, at Beth Tikvah Synagogue, 9711 Geal Road
(Williams and Railway) in Richmond.
People are welcome
to attend part of, or all of, the programme activities.
Every third Monday,
we sponsor a Wellness Clinic where you can have your blood
pressure taken, sugar testing for diabetes, speak to a nurse or
outreach worker, or, at very reduced prices, even get a
manicure, pedicure, reflexology, etc.
The Richmond Jewish Seniors community is a growing one and we
anticipate expanded activities and growth. Jewish seniors from
nearby areas are always welcome. Come out, meet us, and
participate. A Newsletter and calendar are mailed out 5 times a
year. Please call our office at 604 241 9270, or email us at
kehila@kehilasociety.org, to
be added to our mailing list, or for further information.
